3rd Century CE.

Provenance

Purchased in Cairo, Egypt, in 1924. Its exact provenance is unknown but it is believed that it came from the Fayum.

Size

About 25.4 cm. x 15.3 cm. There is one column and about 32 lines (originally 33) per page.

It contain Matthew 26:19-52.

Textual Character

It has 11 singular readings. Sanders described P37 as having a "Western" text with some variants peculiar to Egypt. According to the Alands, the text in P37 is "free".

Writing

It is written in documentary hand. The words are slightly separated. Accents and punctuation marks are absent. Rough breathing is used once.
